Before, I was helping my sister in her community health nursing; she wants detailed information about the phases of Community health nursing. I tried searching the internet but I can’t find them. So, I just told her about what I know about that. I t is not detailed but It helped her.
Goal: the community will be self reliant regarding health needs
The Community has 5 phases include:
1. Pre- entry
- Investigation of peace and order of the place
- Community must composed of poor family
- Courtesy call to Mayor and Local Unit(Barangay)
- Only one organization per local unit to avoid conflict between the 2 organizations
2. Entry/Integration
- Students live in their respective foster parent
- Live the lifestyle of your foster family
- Help your family in their work like farming, student is supposed to do what the family are doing
- Attend occasions in the community like wedding, feast, birthday, and other
-Home visit (student can standby in community’s small store because that’s the place where one can mostly find the community people)
3. Core Group formation
- List of responsible people in the community
- Voting of candidates for Group formation who will take over the community’s needs when the student nurse leave the community
- Formation of second group so, second group can take over the community’s need when the first group is not available
4. Strengthening and Maintenance
-Leadership training for the 2 groups
5. Phase out
- Student nurses leave the community because they are already self reliant
- It usually takes from 2 to 3 years
